Press release -
Strawberry enters into a strategic partnership with a Nordic sustainability network.
Strawberry and A Sustainable Tomorrow aim to jointly involve more people in the sustainability transition in the Nordic region. Sustainability is one of Strawberry's strategic focus areas and a fundamental pillar of their hotel operations. Their goal is to achieve carbon neutrality in their own operations by 2030, while also reducing emissions from the value chain by 50 percent in the same year.
In addition to their ongoing sustainability initiatives, Strawberry has now entered into a strategic partnership with the sustainability network, A Sustainable Tomorrow, to influence the industry and business towards a more sustainable society.
- We support A Sustainable Tomorrow's vision of fostering cross-sector collaborations to contribute to a sustainable future. Strawberry has a unique opportunity to facilitate and drive sustainability dialogue locally with our 230 hotels in the Nordic region and the Baltics, says Elin Penttilä, Sustainability Manager at Strawberry.
Together, Strawberry and A Sustainable Tomorrow aim to lead the development of new sustainable meeting formats to meet the evolving needs and behaviors in the sustainability transition in the Nordic region.
- Our strategic partnership with Strawberry provides us with access to extensive experience and expertise in new, inclusive meeting formats. It enhances the reach and implementation capacity in our work to achieve the UN's Global Goals, says Bo Nilsson, founder of A Sustainable Tomorrow.
As part of the collaboration, Strawberry will livestream A Sustainable Tomorrow's annual sustainability conference from their hotels.
The conference will be held on September 15th and will have the theme "Disruption." Among the speakers are renowned figures such as Professor Johan Rockström, Director of the Potsdam Institute, and former Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt.
- We hope to see examples of how disruptive thinking has been successfully applied in various fields, which can inspire us to adopt innovative approaches and business models. In the long term, together with A Sustainable Tomorrow, we aim to offer meetings that bring together representatives from all sectors to engage in productive dialogues on sustainability and achieve concrete results, says Elin Penttilä.
- This year's conference marks the tenth edition since 2015. We will livestream from Helsingborg to 150 locations across the Nordic region, with a total of approximately 20,000 participants. Within a few years, our aim is to reach a total of 100,000 participants, concludes Bo Nilsson.
