Spenn will be the name of Norwegian and Strawberry’s digital loyalty currency

Press release -

Spenn will be the name of Norwegian and Strawberry’s digital loyalty currency

Towards the end of the year the digital loyalty currency Spenn will be launched, which is a joint venture between Norwegian and Strawberry. Spenn will be led by Christoffer Sundby, former Chief Marketing & Customer Officer at Norwegian.

Today Spenn is revealed as the name of the new digital loyalty currency to be used by both Strawberry and Norwegian. In the Spenn app, members will be able to both see their overall points account and use the Spenn they have earned in the various loyalty programs.

- With Spenn, members can earn points on hotel stays and use them to pay for flights - or vice versa. Today, a member must use earned points with partners associated with the same loyalty program. With a digital loyalty currency, members will be able to collect and use their points across various loyalty programs, says Christoffer Sundby, who will lead the new initiative. He adds:

- Initially, it is Norwegian Reward and Strawberry’s loyalty program that is part of the collaboration and uses the Spenn digital loyalty currency, but the plan is to include more leading brands, which will provide even more opportunities to earn and use points among different Spenn partners, says Sundby.

Christoffer Sundby comes from the position as Chief Marketing & Customer Officer at Norwegian, and has been central in the process of developing Spenn. He has previously been a consultant at McKinsey and held several management positions, including manager for Circle K in Norway. Sundby has also been on the Norwegian national sailing team, participating in the Olympics in Sydney and Athens, as well as WC gold.

– This is an important milestone in our collaboration on developing a joint loyalty currency. I am happy that Christoffer has accepted the position to lead the company, I can think of no better person to capitalize on these opportunities, says Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian.

- Spenn will be a game changer in the market. We must not only have the best partners and offers for our guests and members, we must also have the best people. A visionary project needs a visionary man and Sundby is the perfect fit, says Petter A Stordalen, Owner of Strawberry.
